Safeguarding Consultancy

I’ve been working in safeguarding since 2009. Including safeguarding for substance misuse in Tower Hamlets, leading on the Hidden Harm agenda for children and young people affected by parental substance misuse. I was shortlisted for a London Safeguarding Children Partnership Award 2012.

The Drug and Alcohol Action Team also won a Local Government Chronicle Award in 2018 for Best Team in recognition of the partnership working including the work I led with partners in Children’s Services.

Since 2019 I have worked with Redbridge as a trainer and supervisor in the Education team. The safeguarding landscape in schools is ever changing and I have been privileged to support so many schools during this time.

I want to offer therapeutic support to those who have been working on challenging safeguarding issues within the public sector.

Supervision is vital for the DSL role as it can be very challenging and lonely when managing many cases and safeguarding information. Having supervision enables you to share and discuss in a safe space with no judgement. It enables you to talk processes through in a reassuring and supportive way. Without Supervision sessions with Emma it would be an unmanageable task as a DSL. It is equally vital for your mental health and well-being as a DSL to be able to talk.

Emma has been the most supportive and knowledgeable supervisor for the last six years. She is perhaps the best example of anyone I have dealt with from external agencies in my capacity as DSL and Deputy Head Pastoral. She is calm in a crisis and able to draw on many years of varied experience when faced with any situation which appears thorny or intractable. She always puts the child’s best interests at the heart of her advice, but remains encouraging and supportive towards the professional, offering practical advice and tactful wording to tackle difficult conversations. Her training is thoughtful, intelligent and reflective and we have benefited as a pastoral team and therefore as an institution from our relationship with her.
Bancrofts
Emma provided a safe, non-judgmental space in which I was able to express myself freely. She listened attentively and offered positive, practical strategies that enabled me to better cope emotionally with my experience. A brilliant therapist who made me feel heard, understood, and supported throughout!
